POWNAL – Robert N. Davis, 79, died Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026, at the VA Hospital at Togus following a long illness. He was born in Portland on Oct.25, 1946, a son of the late Harold L. and Janet B. (Higgins) Davis.

Mr. Davis was a graduate of Freeport High School, class of 1968. He enlisted in the US Army in August of 1968. Four years later, he enlisted in the US Navy, serving from 1976 – 78 and again from 1979 – 1980.

Mr. Davis had been employed at Eastland Shoe Company in Freeport, Pineland Hospital in Gray and Big Lots in Windham.

Bob will be remembered for his sense of humor, carefree attitude, willingness to help others and his love of food.

He is survived by his brother, Theodore R. Davis of Durham, his sister, Cynthia L. Campbell of Pownal; as well as five nieces and their families.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at a later date.
