AUBURN – Irene L. Delorme, 97, of Auburn, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, March 8, 2026, at Schooner Estates. She was born in Lewiston on June 19, 1928, in Lewiston. She was the daughter of the late Omer and Veronique (Raymond) Labrie. Irene lost her mother at the tender age 9-years-old and was raised by her loving father and older siblings.
On July 1, 1950, Irene married her loving husband Fernand Delorme, and they spent 59 years celebrating their love together. Irene lived most of her life in New Auburn, surrounded by her siblings, nephews, and nieces.
In the early years, Irene was employed at the Hill Mill, and Raytheon. Later she studied at the Ethel Richard Secretarial School and was employed at Champoux Insurance Agency for 18 years. She was forever grateful for the love and support she received throughout the years from the Champoux family.
Irene had many hobbies which included: quilting, needle point, gardening, cooking, and rug braiding with her husband. She took first prize for one of her needle point works, and “the peoples choice award” for the penichi fudge she made and served to everyone who visited with her.
A devoted Catholic all of her life, Irene lived with a deep faith in God. She was a lifelong member of Saint Louis Church until its closing and then a member of Saint Phillips Church. She served on the Parish Council and sang in the choir for over 50 years.
