Nancy (McCollough) Harlow

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Nancy (McCollough) Harlow, 89, passed away in Providence, R.I. on Wednesday March 4, 2026, following a brief illness.

Born in Lewiston, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Regina (Vermette) McCollough. She was predeceased by her brother, Raymond McCollough and his wife Patricia.

She attended Stephens High School in Rumford where she met her husband of over 60 years, the late Henry Harlow who passed away in March of 2022.

She earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Home Economics at University of Maine at Farmington. She began her teaching career in Dixfield before moving to and teaching in the Amesbury, Mass. school system. She later earned a second master’s degree in Administration before moving to Pasedena, Texas where she taught Special Education in the Houston School District.

She and her family spent their summers and winter vacations in their camp at Rangeley and eventually made it her retirement home with her husband. She moved to Johnston, R.I. with her daughter, Michele Jewells and her husband Blaine in recent years.

She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Rachel Harlow, Matthew Jewells, Melodie Newman; Kyle Newman and his wife Angel, and their son, her great-grandson, Kayden Newman.

She was predeceased by her two sons, Charles Harlow (53) and Darel Harlow (40); as well as her nephew, Mark McCollough and niece, Denise Harlow. She also leaves behind her nephew, Todd McCollough, and her nieces Kelly O’Neil and Kristen Harlow.

A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, March 15, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., at her daughter Michele’s residence in Rhode Island. A funeral will be held June 6, followed by a burial for her and her late husband, together in Rangeley. marianiandson.com
