As a technology worker with a remote job, it would be hypocritical of me to oppose the building of data centers in Maine. However, I recognize the burden these facilities place on our energy infrastructure. Therefore, a modest proposal:
Any new data center constructed in Maine must be powered by Maine-generated, sustainable energy. Data center owners may construct their own solar, wind, geothermal or hydropower plants, or can buy from Maine vendors, but no energy can come in from out of state or benefit an out-of-state company.
