A 56-year-old woman who went missing from her home in Brunswick in January was found dead near a walking trail Saturday morning.
The Maine Warden Service and other search-and-rescue organizations were out searching for Brunswick resident Rebecca Dorr on Saturday, prompting the closure of walking trails in the Brunswick Town Commons.
The Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife confirmed later in the day that searchers had located Dorr “in a wooded area near some walking trails.”
The death is not considered suspicious, according to department spokesperson Mark Latti.
The Warden Service and Brunswick Police Department originally announced they were searching for Dorr on January 26. Authorities wrote on Facebook that Dorr was believed to have gone missing from her residence at 272 Maine St.
Deep snow fell the night Dorr went missing, prompting authorities to call of the search after a few days due to poor conditions. The search effort resumed this weekend.
Dorr was also reported missing last August, and was found safe three days later in a remote, wooded area, police said in a news release at the time. Authorities have said Dorr is impacted by mental health issues.
