Paul Edward Crowley
PORTLAND – Paul Edward Crowley of Portland, died on March 12, 2026 after a gallant battle with metastatic cancer.
He was born in Lewiston in 1948, the son of Daniel J. Crowley, Jr. and Dorothy Callahan Crowley. Paul attended schools in Auburn and graduated from ELHS in 1966. He was a Vietnam veteran, entering the Marines following graduation and deployed to Vietnam where he served during the war.
He spent most of his adult life in Portland, retiring from Maine Medical Center where he made many friends. He enjoyed walking, bird watching, fishing and other outdoor sports as well as following sports on TV. He was a devoted fan of the Boston Red Sox and the Patriots. He was an avid reader and a frequent visitor to the Portland Public Library. In his younger days he was a boxer and played softball.
He is survived by a son, Patrick (Lisa); and grandson, Logan, from Bristol, Conn.; as well as Patrick’s mother, Cathy Bolduc Mathieu of Connecticut; brother, Daniel Joseph Crowley and sister-in-law, Celeste Crowley of Durham, sister, Dorothy Crowley Noel of Auburn, sister-in-law, Rita Crowley of Jay, and brother-in-law, Garnet Dawson (Noella) of Jay; as well as many nieces, nephews; and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents; sisters Kathleen Crowley and Susanne Dawson, and brother, John P. Crowley of Jay.
A private military service and burial will be held at the Veteran’s Cemetery in Augusta at a later date.
