Walter Conrad Daoust

FARMINGTON – Walter Conrad Daoust, 88, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2026, at Sandy River Center following a long battle with dementia. He was born on August 28, 1937, in Boston, Mass., the son of Eulalia Vinning, Conrad Daoust Sr., and Charles Kavgas.

Walter attended school in Wilton, Maine, and later earned his GED in Livermore Falls.

Walter spent the majority of his working life in the shoe industry, where his dedication and strong work ethic led to his promotion to Supervisor. After retiring, he pursued a new passion for woodworking, taking classes and developing his skills.

An avid outdoorsman, Walter found great joy in hunting and fishing. His favorite places were Mooselookmeguntic Lake and East Grand Lake, where he built a camp and created many lasting memories.

On June 21, 1980, he married Joanne Morin in Livermore Falls.

Walter will be remembered fondly for his generous spirit and love of family. In his younger years, he delighted his nieces, nephews, and grandchildren by playing Santa Claus during the holiday season, bringing joy and laughter that will always be cherished.

He is survived by his wife, Joanne of Livermore Falls; his daughters, Joyce Greco of Richmond, Laurie Doughty and her partner Rick Benedetto of Jay, and Carla Perkins and her husband Dean of Jay, his son, Kevin Daoust and his wife Dolores of Fayette; his sister, Elaine Henson of Damariscotta and his brother, Robert Daoust and his wife Bonita of Lewiston. He also leaves behind six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his sister, Teresa Daoust, his brother, Conrad Daoust; and his grandsons, Walter Greco and Paul Caldwell Jr.

At Walter’s request, there will be no services at this time. A graveside service will be announced and held at a later date in the spring.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Sandy River Center and Andwell Hospice for their compassionate and wonderful care of Walter.

Walter will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
