AUBURN – Arvilla A. Kay, our loving, caring mother, grandmother, GG, “Arvie,” passed away peacefully on June 29, 2021, at Sarah Frye Home in Auburn after a short illness. She formerly resided at St. Mary’s Residence in Lewiston.Mom was born in Lewiston on April 29, 1929, to Wesley and Mary (Matthews) Temple. She was educated locally and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1947 and attended Nasson College.Arvilla married Edwin R. Kay on February 5, 1949, in Lewiston. She was a member of the former St. Joseph’s Parish in Lewiston and Holy Family Parish. She was employed by Dr. Roy’s dental office and the Carriage House in Lewiston after her homemaking years raising her 3 children.Arvilla loved her family get togethers and going summers to the family cottage on the ocean at Biddeford. She was a big Red Sox and Patriots fan; also enjoyed attending sporting events of her grandchildren.She was a devout Catholic and her Faith was very important to her. Mom will always be remembered by the beautiful smile on her face and the wonderful memories that we have shared!Survivors include: Michael (Gail) Kay of Skowhegan, Brenda (Dick) Nihtila of Hanson, Mass., and Brian (Pam) Kay of Lewiston; also 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 8 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Ed, in 2001 and sisters, Janice M. Marcotte, and Jacqueline Gramling.The family would like to thank the wonderful, caring staff of Sarah Frye Home and Beacon Hospice for our mother’s comfort in her last days. In lieu of flowers, donations in Arvilla’s memory can be made to Sarah Frye Home, Beacon Hospice, St. Mary’s Residence, or a charity of your choice.Visitation will be held at the Albert & Burpee Funeral Home on Friday, July 9, from 6 to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Church on Saturday, July 10, at 11 AM.
