Officials of Auburn’s two code enforcement programs said today that activities in the Perryville Improvement Project area will get underway early next month. It was announced that an extension sought by the Goff Hill Improvement  Area  Project, the city’s first such program, has been approved by the Federal government. Richard M. Plante, community relation specialists, said a meeting will be held early next month “to acquaint residents and property owners in the Perryville area with the program.” He said staff members will be on hand at that meeting to answer general questions and that colored slides describing the program will be utilized. A definite time and place is to be announced. Regularly scheduled inspections of property in the Perryville area will not begin until after the meeting. Plante said. Adding, “In the meantime, however, property owners in the new project area, in particular those wanting to participate in the projects loan and grant programs, may contact or call the office for ‘on request’ inspection of their properties.”

The premier Sunday nature workshop at the Wilhelm Reich Museum in Rangeley was a huge success with more than 50 people partaking. Instructor Nancy Prentiss gave an introductory talk at the museum’s outdoor classroom and then the group migrated toward the field to put their knowledge to use. Fringed Lesser, Daisy Fleabane, and Pyrola were among the flowers identified. The flora of the Rangeley area is two to three weeks behind that of the Farmington area, due to the alpine environment, said Prentiss.
