NORWAY — Two men were arrested and charged Friday in connection with a series of break-ins at Norway-Paris Solid Waste and Oxford County Regional Recycling.
Anthony R. Goddard, 20, of 126 Horton St. in Lewiston, and Michael P. Higgins, 28, of 209 Webber Brook Road in Oxford, were charged with burglary, theft and criminal mischief.
A search of the suspects’ home turned up property reported stolen from the two Brown Street buildings, including a computer, keys to department vehicles, a power strip and a money bag, according to Detective Gary Hill of the Norway Police Department.
Officer Robert Federico II, a reserve officer and the son of Chief Robert Federico, conducted an investigation of the break-ins on March 11 through March 13. Federico obtained a search warrant of Higgins’ home, which led to the arrests.
The men allegedly broke windows and door locks to get into the buildings.
Hill said it appeared they hadn’t used the keys to the equipment, as none of the vehicles on the site appear to have been moved or damaged.
According to the Oxford County jail, Higgins was still in custody Monday night, with bail set at $500 or a Maine Pretrial Services contract. Goddard was released on personal recognizance.
