WILTON — Two Bethel women escaped injury Thursday morning when their pickup truck slid off Route 2 and flipped over.

An Ford F350 flipped over and landed back on its wheels Thursday morning on Route 2 West near the Pond Road.

Shannon Long, 18, of Bethel was driving the pickup east near the Pond Road intersection at about 8:30 a.m. when the accident happened, police officer Timothy Coombs said. The road was snow-covered and Long lost control of the truck, which hit a snowbank, flipped over and landed on its in a small bog area, he said.

Neither Long nor her passenger, Cherylle Long, 37, of Bethel were injured.

The vehicle received a lot of body damage but Coombs was unsure of the extent of structural damage. It was removed by Farmington Towing.

Members of Wilton Fire Department responded to the scene to help with traffic, he said.
