Earlene Hodsdon Rosenberg
HALLOWELL – Mrs. Earlene Hodsdon Rosenberg, 87, died Saturday Aug. 7, 2021, at the Woodlands Senior Living in Hallowell. She was formerly of Rumford.
Born in Rumford, on Feb. 2, 1934, she was the adopted daughter of Earle and Arlene Enman. She was a graduate with honors of Stephens High School in Rumford and worked as a bank teller. She married Roy Hodsdon in 1952 and they raised three boys. At the end of the school season she would pilot a fully loaded VW micro bus through Andover (because it could not climb Roxbury Notch) and the family would spend summers at Sunset Camp on Roxbury Pond. Earlene loved the Virgin Memorial Chapel in Rumford where she was the organist and choir director for many years. She had many surrogate daughters among her choir. She was a consummate knitter leaving the family with many heirloom pieces.
She married Peter Rosenberg in 1992 and moved to his beautiful farm in Bryant Pond where she was embraced by his family. Earlene and Pete loved to spend the summers at her camp on Twitchell Pond.
At the Woodlands as her memory declined, visitors would leave a note of their visit on the calendar in her room. Thank you all so much.
She is survived by her sons, Kim Hodsdon and partner Kathy of Belgrade, Keith Hodsdon and wife Debra of Norway and Lee Hodsdon of Pleasureville, Ky., four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Pete Rosenburg.
