AUBURN – Louis F. Hammerschmidt passed away peacefully on Aug. 6, 2021. He was born to the late Joseph and Mary Hammerschmidt on June 28, 1930. After graduating high school he went to serve in he Coast Guard for six years. After leaving the military he went to work for Stanley Works for 42 years.
He is survived by his five children: the Late Laurie, Louis Lu-Ann, Lisa, and Catherine; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Monday Aug. 16, at 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., at The Fortin Group, 217 Turner St. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 1 p.m., at Holy Family Church. Burial will be held at a later date at Maine Veterans Memorial cemetery.
