Auxiliary to elect

AUBURN —  American Legion Post 31 will hold elections of Auxiliary officers on Monday, April 4. Election will take place during the regular meeting, which will begin at 6 p.m. at the post home on Washington Street.

Fortier Chapter

LEWISTON — The Dr. Paul Fortier Chapter 52, Royal Arcanum-ACA Division, will gather at 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 4, in the Senior Citizens Room of the Multi-Purpose Center.

Following the monthly business meeting there will be a social hour, with refreshments served by Aliette and Ron Couturier.

Lymphedema talk

LEWISTON – The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing at Central Maine Medical Center is offering a free workshop, “What is Lymphedema? The Diagnosis and Treatment,” from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, at 12 High St, conference room H.

Patients who have had surgery and/or radiation treatment for breast cancer may be at risk for developing lymphedema. Presenter Lorri Pelletier, OTR/L, CLT-LANA, WCC, MS, will discuss the signs, symptoms and treatment options available.

K registration

MONMOUTH — Registration for children entering kindergarten this fall who have not previously been in the pre-K program will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, at the Henry L. Cottrell School.

Children must be age 5 on or before Oct. 15. A copy of the child’s original birth certificate, Social Security card and health record, including immunization dates, will be needed. The child will be checked for height, weight, vision and hearing.

Guild to meet

LEWISTON — The Queen’s Guild Sodality will meet at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 7, in the Holy Cross Senior Hall. The meeting will open with the Rosary.

Following the prayers, Doris Forgues will speak on “Wellness for Seniors.” Light refreshments will be served by Nancy Ruff, Lorraine Chouinard, Eva Ladouceur, Dot Donovan and Dorothy Higgins.

Tutor training

AUBURN — There will be an English Conversation Partners Tutor Training Workshop on Friday, April 8, at Literacy Volunteers-Androscoggin, 15 Sacred Heart Place.

Volunteers will learn how to help someone speak English better by having a weekly conversation with an English language learner. The workshop will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Preregistration is required. For more information, call 333-4785 or visit www.literacyvolunteersandro.org.
