Charles G. Adams

JAY – Charles G. Adams, 70, of Jay, lost his five-year battle with melanoma at his home, surrounded by his family, on Friday, Sept. 10, 2021.

Born on Feb. 5, 1951, in Farmington, Charlie was the second of four children of Eleanor and Charles Adams of Wilton. He was a proud member of the last graduating class of Wilton Academy in 1969. He attended Unity College and graduated in 1972. He worked at the paper mill in Rumford for 40 years, where he was a hard worker and never took a sick day for 23 of those years.

He was proud to be a U.S. Army veteran. He married his wife, Deb, and after his military service, they moved to Bethel, where they raised their family. He was active in the Bethel United Methodist Church, the Cub Scouts, and coached baseball. In 2003, they relocated to Jay.

He loved spending time at camp on Moosehead Lake and nothing made him happier than fishing with his guys. Charlie also loved hunting, snowmobiling, the Red Sox, was a lifelong Green Bay fan and, most of all, his family. He was an amazing father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Deb, of 51 years; son, Jason of Portland, daughter, Jennifer and husband Michael Clark of Readfield, son, Tim and wife Rachel of Fayette; grandsons Nathan and Alex Clark, and Ben, Josh, and Zack Adams; sisters Eileen Adams and husband Frank Maccarrone of Wilton, Elizabeth and husband Marvin Demers of Nags Head, N.C., Hester Mayo of St. Petersburg, Fla.; in-laws Skip and Marie Thompson of Jay.

He was predeceased by his parents Charles and Eleanor Adams.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday Sept. 15 at Wiles Remembrance Center: Adams-McFarlane Chapel, 137 Farmington Falls Rd., Farmington. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday Sept. 16 at the Wilton United Methodist Church, 600 Main St., Wilton. Private interment will be at the Lakeview Cemetery in Wilton.
