The team behind a proposed casino in Lewiston welcomed a pair of new investors to the project Monday.
Retired Col. James Tracey Sr. and his wife Elizabeth Tracey joined Great Falls Recreation and Redevelopment LLC as investors in the project, the company announced in a news release Monday. Tracey is a former Maine National Guard officer and assistant principal of Lewiston schools; Elizabeth is a former principal of New Gloucester’s Memorial School.
The casino, which has not yet been approved, would benefit Maine seniors and veterans, one reason why they signed onto the project, the Traceys said.
“No other casino in Maine gives a penny to help veterans,” Col. Tracey said. The casino will give almost $500,000 annually to veterans groups such as the American Legion, the release said.
“We are very excited to have the Traceys joining our team, project manager Stavros Mendros said. They are exactly the kind of hardworking, committed and honorable family we are proud to have support this effort.”
