Healthy Androscoggin recognized 19 hospitals at the 2011 Gold Star Standards of Excellence awards celebration. Central Maine Medical Center received a silver standard of excellence from the Maine Tobacco-Free Hospital Network and St. Mary’s recieved a bronze standard of excellence from the Maine Tobacco-Free Hospital Network. These hospitals have taken steps to make their campuses tobacco-free and support tobacco-free lifestyles for their employees, patients and the community. Jennifer Smith, at left, and Maria Pete, both from St. Mary’s, received individual Gold Stars. Hospitals, along with eight individuals Gold Stars, were recognized at the celebration on March 23 at the Maine Hospital Association in Augusta.
