Friday night’s dance will feature hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction featuring sports memorabilia and live music by the Tony Boffa Band. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at www.HoganReliefFund.com.

PORTLAND — A dance will be held Friday to raise money for the family of Lorna Hogan, who recently lost two of her six children in a house fire in Lisbon.

The Lorna Hogan Relief Fund benefit will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday, April 8, at the Fireside Inn in Portland, 81 Riverside St.

The event is organized by Legacy Publishing Co. Lorna is a sales associate in Legacy Publishing’s Auburn sales center.

“It’s in response to this crisis she’s facing,” said Jim DeWolfe, vice president of sales at Legacy. “We as a company value and respect our employees. We feel we can raise donations to help her family out.”

Many have generously donated clothing and other items to the family, which lost everything during the early-morning blaze in Lisbon on March 2.

“She’s really in need of monetary donations,” DeWolfe said. “It’s a tragedy of the worst kind. The family’s in deep mourning.” Hogan hasn’t returned to work since the fire. She is living with family.

DeWolfe called Hogan a “good mother, a wonderful human being. She’s been a steady contributor to our sales efforts. She’s a person you meet and feel like you’ve known her years.” Hogan has not given interviews, and is being protected from the media, DeWolfe said.

The two children who died in the fire were Natalie Hogan, 11, and Kelsey Hogan, 6. The mother suffered smoke inhalation and burns trying to rescue them. The fire was accidental. The home had one smoke detector without a battery, authorities said.
