PORTLAND — Nancy Martin, 85, of Erchles Street, Rumford died Tuesday, April 5, at Maine Medical Center surrounded by her family.

She was born in Mexico, Oct. 17, 1925, a daughter of the late Bruno and Rose (Samarco) Buccina. She was educated in local schools and graduated from Mexico High School, Class of 1943.

She married the love of her life, Vincent G. Martin Sr. on Oct. 27, 1952, who predeceased her in 1970. She was a member of St. Athanasius-St. John Church. She had incredible passion for reading and her typical pace was a book per day. Her shopping excursions with Aunt Liz were legendary within the family. Recent trips to Hollywood Slots with friends were also classic.

Next to watching her Red Sox beat the Yankees, her most prized activity was simply spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. There is nothing she treasured more than hosting holiday meals with her whole family sitting around the table.

She leaves a daughter, Darlene Capponi and her husband, Antonio, of Steep Falls; three sons, Vincent G. Martin Jr. and his wife, Christine, of Standish, Glenn Martin and his wife, Kaye, of Hendersonville,Tenn., and Craig Martin and his wife, Julie, of Poland; seven grandchildren, Ryan and Randa Capponi, Amanda, Vincent III, Emily, Caleb and Kylie Martin, three sisters, Jennie Curato of Rumford, Rose McInnis of Rumford and Ann Tripp and her husband, Percy, of Westbrook; and a brother, Joseph Buccina and his wife, Olga, of Rumford.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Sullivan and her identical twin and best friend, Elizabeth Melanson; and a brother, James Buccina.
