LIVERMORE FALLS — Regional School Unit 36 directors on Thursday will consider several recommendations to terminate positions and staff contracts, and change 10 educational technician III positions to educational technician II positions.
The board meeting begins at 6 p.m. April 14 at Central Office.
The pay difference between the two levels of educational technicians is approximately $2 per hour, Superintendent Sue Pratt said. Educational IIIs make more than educational IIs. Negotiations for a new contract are ongoing so it is unknown what the pay will be for next year, she said.
Pratt recommends, as a result of a change in local conditions, eliminating positions of one English teacher and one dean of students, both effective Aug. 31.
Pratt is also recommending terminating the contract of Vicki Thayer-Adams, dean of students at the high school, and not renewing English teacher Katie Lafreniere’s contract, both as of Aug. 31.
She also recommends the non-renewal of teacher Billie Putnam’s contract, effective Aug 31.
Pratt also recommends eliminating 10 special educational technician III positions to take effect at the end of the 2010-11 contract year.
Two special education ed techs will be eliminated at each of the high, middle and elementary schools. Four districtwide educational tech III positions are also recommended to be eliminated.
There are currently 10 educational technician III positions where only an educational technician II positions are needed for the work preformed, Pratt said.
She also recommends creating 10 educational technician II positions as of the beginning of the 2011-12 contract year.
She is recommending that existing ed tech IIIs become ed tech IIs for the 2011-12 school year.
Those technicians are Wendy Berube and Eileen Moreau in special education at Livermore Falls High School, Barbara Dufour and Bernadette Bessey in special education at Livermore Falls Middle School, Jason Wyman and Torah Judd, who are special educational technicians at Livermore Elementary School.
Pratt is also recommending placing Juanita Bouchard in the position of ed tech II in pre-kindergarten, Jen Wilkins to ed tech II, Angela Frey and Michelle Labe to ed tech II in the Title I program.
The board will also consider the resignations of the middle school athletic director and middle school softball coach
Pratt seeks to rehire the secretary to the superintendent. That move is also recommended by the board’s Salary and Personnel Committee.
