AUBURN — Work repairing the Hackett Road bridge over the Maine Turnpike will detour local traffic for more than a week beginning April 25 and will slow traffic on Interstate 95.

Crews from T-Buck Construction of Auburn will replace damaged beams in the bridge, which was struck by a truck carrying a large load. Work is scheduled to wrap up May 3.

Hackett Road will be closed to through traffic between Broad and South Main streets for the duration of the work. Traffic will be detoured up Broad Street to Witham Road and back to South Main Street.

On the turnpike, the work will force crews to narrow the travel lanes and stop traffic occasionally during the night. The bridge is about 2 miles northeast of the turnpike’s Exit 75, between Auburn and Lewiston.

Most turnpike traffic stops will occur from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., and should last no longer than 25 minutes at a time.
