PARIS — Dorothy L. “Aunt Dot” Ray, 90, died Wednesday, April 13, at Market Square Nursing Home after a long illness.
She was born in Leeds, April 29, 1920, the daughter of James and Ada (Jackson) Pettingill. She attended school in Leeds and was a graduate of Monmouth Academy.
She was married to Harold Ray, until his death in 1976. Dot spent most of her adult life working in the local shoe industry.
After retirement, she worked parttime at both Mothercare and Porteous in the Auburn Mall.
She enjoyed family gatherings, time at the coast and attending country music concerts with her sister, Eleanor.
Dot was also known as the family “shutterbug,” taking pictures or filming anything that was family related.
She is survived by one sister, Helen Wotherspoon and her husband, John, of Minot.
Besides her husband, Harold, she was predeceased by six sisters; and two brothers.
