Twenty eight picture books are on display at the Norway Memorial Library and are available to be “adopted” for the children’s collection. Julie Maxim is shown with her daughter Abigail looking at one of the adoptable books. The public is encouraged to purchase a book to honor a child, friend or relative, and a plate with the person’s name will be placed in the front of the chosen book. Books to be adopted include picture book biographies of Amelia Earhart and Dr. George Washington Carver, popular authors such as Jan Brett and Allen Say, favorite book characters such as Fancy Nancy and Olivia, books on topics like honey bees and wolves, and cozy lap-sit read-alouds for the toddler age.
