LEWISTON — Andy Valley Gymnastics athletes competed well in the Maine State Championships recently.
The boys’ Level 10 group won the team competition in its division, while the Level 9 and Level 6 teams both finished second. On the girls’ side, the Intermediate Prep Opt group won the team competition in its division, while the Level 8, Level 6 and Level 3 teams all finished third.
In boys’ individual competition, Dylan Tanguay (Level 10, age 16+) placed first in All Around as well as Pommel Horse, Rings, Vault, Parallel Bars and High Bar. He finished third in Floor Exercise. Max Soifer finished second in AA, PH, R, V, HB and won the FX. Patrick Rojas placed 3rd in AA, PH,R,V and HB while placing second on FX & PB. In the Level 10 (14-15 age group), Josh Abrams won 1st on AA, FX, PH, R, V, PB & HB.
In Level 9 (age 12-13), Will Greene won first in the AA, FX, PH, R & HB while finishing second in V & PB. Alec Fisher came in 2nd in AA, FX, PH & R. He won the V & PB events and placed 3rd on HB.
Joey Baumann placed 1st in Level 7 (age 12+) and swept all the events as well.
In Level 6 (age 10-11), Connor Jackson finished second in the AA, FX, PH,R, PB, &HB. He also placed 3rd in V. Chandler Burke placed third in AA, FX, PH, PB 7 HB while finishing fourth in R & V.
Jacob Jackson won the AA in Level 5 (age 7-9). He also won the FX and placed third on PH and 2nd on R, V, PB & HB. Sam Lattin finished sixth in the AA, PH, R & HB. He placed fourth on FX, fifth on PB and 1st on V.
In Level 4 (age 6-7), Elijah Chase finished ninth in the AA. He also placed fifth on R, V & PB and seventh on FX.
In girls’ Level 8 (age 16+), Dayle Jordan finished fourth in the All Around. She also placed fourth on Vault, fifth on Uneven Bars, second on Balance Beam & third on Floor Exercise. Tiffany Levesque finished sixth in the AA, UB & FX while placing fourth on BB. Fiona Sterling placed seventh in AA, third on BB & fifth on FX.
In Prep Opt (age 13+), Tessa Theriault finished second in AA and FX. She won UB & BB and placed fourth on V. Sam Tzikas won the 12 & under age group and took first on V, UB & FX. Brooke Laliberte took second in the AA, UB & BB and won FX. Megan Farrington placed third in the AA. She won the BB and placed second on V & FX.
In Level 7 (age 12), Ashleigh Jackson finished eighth in AA and took fifth on UB & seventh on FX.
Alexa Rumble is the Level 6 (age 11) All Around champion. She also won the BB & FX, placed second on UB and third on V. In Level 6 (age 12), Skylar Rubocki placed fourth on AA, V, UB & FX while taking third on BB. Amber Shelley finished third in the AA and BB (age 7-10). She won the UB And FX events. Madison Porter finished fifth in UB and seventh in AA.
In Level 5 (age 7-8), Katrina Bolduc placed sixth in AA & BB, fifth on V & FX and fourth on UB. Paige Cote finished sixth in the (age 9) division while placing third on FX, fourth on UB and fifth on BB. Tessa Rubocki finished ninth in AA. Lily Hoffman came in 12th in the (age 10) division while placing sixth on FX and seventh on UB.
Avery Estella is the Level 4 (age 6-7) All Around champion. She also won the BB, placed second on UB & FX and fourth on V. Emma Curtis placed fifth in the AA of the (age 9) division. She took second on BB and third on FX. In the (age 10) division, Emma Allen finished fifth in AA, UB, FX & V and seventh on BB. In the (age 11+) division, Rebecca Soifer placed second in AA and UB while winning V & FX.
Acadia Rugullies is the Level 3 (age 7) All Around champion. She also won the UB & BB, placed second on V and third on FX. Alexandra Hawksley finished eighth in the (age 8) division and placed sixth on UB & BB. In age 9+, Julia Frost placed third in AA, V & BB, second on UB and fourth on FX.
The girls’ competition was a qualifier for the Level 8 Regionals in Massachusetts on May 1st. Congratulations to Dayle Jordan, Tiffany Levesque and Fiona Sterling for achieving the qualifying score.
The boys’ states were a qualifying meet for the New England Championships. New England qualifiers were Dylan Tanguay, Max Soifer, Pat Rojas, Josh Abrams, Will Greene, Alec Fisher, Joey Baumann, Connor Jackson and Jacob Jackson.
