Leo Roger Desjardins
AUBURN – Leo Roger Desjardins, 89, passed away on Jan. 24, 2022, at Schooner Estates Memory Care surrounded by his beloved family. Leo was born on Feb. 9, 1932 and raised on Brook Street in New Auburn. In 1952, he married his soulmate, Omerine Couillard. With Omerine, his wife of 69 years, they raised their family of seven children on Sixth Street in Auburn.
Leo was a remarkable son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He worked at several shoe factories as an edge trimmer and also volunteered as the caretaker of St. Louis Church for many years. His love for his wife and family was only surpassed by his love for God.
As a teenager, he worked with his father to help build the family camp on Tacoma Lakes in Litchfield. This time with his father was a treasured memory and he built upon these cherished moments with time spent at camp with his extended family. Leo was always ready for an adventure with his wife and children. Whether it was camping, fishing, snowmobiling, boating, or sing-a-longs around the piano, Leo was the captain. Laughter and time with those he loved were his favorite. He has left a legacy of love and integrity for all who knew him.
Leo is survived by his beloved wife, Omerine; his seven children Paul (Carole) Desjardins, Jeannette (Gary) LaBonte, Daniel (Jean) Desjardins, Bernadette (Michael) Albert, Marc (Susan) Desjardins, Arthur (Heather) Desjardins, and Ann (Jay) Piper; 19 grandchildren 23 great-grandchildren, two brothers Robert (Antoinette) Desjardins and Armand (Joline) Desjardins, one sister Jeannette Desjardins, many nieces, nephews and friends.
