HANOVER — Two people were killed and two injured early Sunday in a two-vehicle collision, according to Chief Deputy James Urquhart of the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office.
Nathaniel Skillin, 36, of Dixfield and Rodger Beaudoin, 55, of Berlin, New Hampshire, were pronounced dead at the scene, according to Urquhart.
Two passengers in Beaudoin’s vehicle — Jody Houle, 45, and Ricardy Roseaux, 36 — were able to escape the burning vehicle and were taken to the hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.
Rescue workers arrived at the crash, near 2211 Main St., at 2:04 a.m., according to reports.
Witnesses said Skillin’s vehicle was traveling eastbound on Route 2 in Hanover when it crossed the center line and collided with the oncoming vehicle operated by Beaudoin, which caught fire upon impact, according to Urquhart.
The Oxford County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash, Urquhart said. Road conditions and driver impairment might have been factors, he said.
The Rumford Police Department, Rumford Fire and EMS, MedCare Ambulance Service, Bethel Fire Department, Newry Fire Department and Maine Department of Transportation also responded to the incident.
