AUBURN — Jordan Andoniades, 86, formerly of Daytona Beach, Fla., died on Wednesday, June 1, at the Androscoggin Hospice House, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Istanbul, Turkey, May 6, 1925, the son of the late Stavros and Marika Andoniades of Istanbul, Turkey. He served in the Turkish Army at the age of 18. He came to the United States when he was 35 years old in 1961 to pursue his dreams and bring his family to the United States. He was a gifted and talented shoe designer. He was employed for many years by the Farmington/Livermore Shoe Co. and traveled throughout the world practicing his trade.
In 1963, it was a proud moment of his life when his family joined him in the United States. They all became American citizens in the early 1970s, another very proud moment of his life. He loved his beloved country of Greece, but the love for America was even greater. Upon his retirement, he moved to Daytona Beach, Fla. He traveled back to Greece and throughout the United States.
He is survived by his family, a son, Emilio and his wife, Kassaye Andoniades, his daughter, Maria and her husband, David Rivet; his former wife, Athanasia Andoniades; his former daughter-in-law, Theresa Andoniades; nine grandchildren, Thimitrios, Athena, Iorthanis, Mariam, Athanasia, Alexander Michel Andoniades, Joshua, Nathaniel and Alexander Rivet; a very special friend, Maria Schwab; and her entire family of Ormond Beach, Fla.

Also, the entire staff at Androscoggin Hospice House and Dr. Roger Austin. Our father received wonderful care. Thank you very much for your emotional support for a difficult time in our lives.
