WILTON — Selectmen will hold a public hearing and consider the sale of town-owned and foreclosed properties when they meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the town office.

Voters will be asked Monday during the town’s annual meeting to authorize the board to dispose of tax-acquired properties in a way they feel is in the best interest of the town. The town meeting article provides selectmen authorization following the public hearing.

With 24 properties now under consideration, the board plans to hold the hearing and determine a process for selling the town-owned/foreclosed properties. They hope to put the properties back on the town’s tax rolls.

Several of the properties have been acquired from liens after years of no tax payments, Town Manager Rhonda Irish said about the large amount of properties.

In other business, Irish plans to update the board on the Canal Street bridge project and the work being done on the Wilton Tannery.
