FARMINGTON — Carol Ann Atwood, 62, of Jay, died Saturday, June 4, at the Franklin Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on Oct. 21, 1948, in Farmington, the daughter of Carl and Barbara (Cushman) Wardwell Sr. She attended local schools, graduating from Wilton Academy.
Carol worked at Forster Manufacturing in Dryden for more than 27 years in the office. She went on to work at SafetyKleen in Leeds, Franklin Memorial Hospital as a receptionist and in the Fayette Town Office until 2007.
She enjoyed crafts including sewing and cross-stitching. She was known for making pillows for all the members of her family. She loved western movies, Star Wars and dining out with her husband. Her family was most important to her and she loved doing things with them.
Carol is survived by her husband, Wade Atwood of Jay, whom she married on July 2, 1993; her mother, Barbara Wardwell of Wilton; her children, Larry Black of Jay, Lisa Black-Hawkes of Stratton and Beth Wright and her husband, Gary, of Jay; stepchildren, Corey Atwood and his wife, Cathy, of Strong and Alysha Braley and her husband, Zane, of Wellington; siblings, Carl Wardwell Jr. and his wife, Judy, of Wilton, Calvin Wardwell and his wife, Joann, of Jay, Lauralee Bickford and her husband, Kingston, of Wilton, Darlene Lilley and her husband, Mike, of Wilton and Mary Welch and her husband, Dale, of Jay; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
She was predeceased by her father, Carl Wardwell Sr.
