The Nordica Homestead Museum is now open for the summer. It is housed in the birthplace home of opera diva, Lillian Nordica, who was born there in 1857. She was the first American woman to achieve international fame in opera. The museum is located a half a mile up the Holley Road, which is off Route 4/27, about two miles north of Farmington. The hours are 1-5 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday. Admission is $2 adults/$1 children. The museum houses gowns, costumes, stage jewelry, furniture, art and other relics of Madame Nordica’s career. Tours are provided by the resident docent, Bonnie Lander. She and her husband, Wint, are the year-round caretakers. Group tours are available. For more information call 778-2042 or visit lilliannordica.com. Pictured is one of the concert gowns on display at the museum.
