Mission Statement

Streak for Cancer is a fundraising event uniting salons across the United States in a fun and different effort to inspire people to make a difference in the lives of those in our country who are unable to help themselves – whether due to being unaware of the importance of early detection or due to lack of the financial means to obtain diagnostic screening.    Salons will join together to raise funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) by “streaking” participant’s hair with pink hair tinsel, a chemical-free product.  It’s fast – it’s easy and it’s lots of fun!   This fundraising event will continue through October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, ending on October 31, 2011.  Our goal is to streak at least 100,000 people throughout the United States by the end of October 2011. 

• The tinsel will withstand heat up to 400 degrees so participants can shampoo and dry as well as use curling irons, flat irons, etc.  The tinsel will last for approximately two to four weeks.   The approval packet will also include a launch date for streaking to begin.

• Salons will not have to collect any monies.  Individual participants will select a salon location from our website, register to streak and make payment directly through the website.  The individual participant will receive a registration code with directions to contact the salon directly and provide that code to schedule their appointment.  At the same time, the salon will receive notification to expect contact via that code for a streaking appointment.

• Salons will streak from July 1 through Oct 31

• Participants will have two options on streaking:

“Love the Bling”  Streak for $15 or “Gotta Have More Bling” Streak for $25
