LEWISTON — A late-morning robbery at a local family eatery remained under investigation Sunday evening as police searched for a suspect.
Lewiston police Sgt. Danny LaChance said that a man entered Sam’s Italian Foods at 268 Main St. at about 11:07 a.m. Sunday and demanded money from the person working the cash register. He said that the suspect told the employee he was armed, but showed no weapon. The man made off with an undisclosed amount of money.
LaChance said that detectives are looking to the public for help in tracking down the suspect. The man is described as white, about 5 feet, 3 inches to 5 feet, 5 inches tall, medium husky build with possibly dark hair and a very small goatee.
He was last seen taking off on foot toward Bates Street wearing jeans and a royal blue hooded sweatshirt with black-and-white writing on it.
The case remained under investigation Sunday night. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call the detectives bureau of the Lewiston Police Department at 513-3001.
