WATERFORD — On hiatus since 2019 due to the pandemic, the much-loved Waterford Summer Breakfasts returned on July 4. Precautions were in place with spacing of tables and masks available, but these wonderful gatherings began again with 360 exuberant guests and volunteers. Hosted at the Wilkins House on Plummer Hill in the Flat of Waterford, adjacent to the Congregational Church, there will be three more breakfasts this summer on Wednesdays, July 20, August 3, and August 17. All will be from 7:30-10 a.m.
The breakfast consists of scrambled eggs, pancakes, bacon, sausage, muffins, donut holes, juice, coffee, tea, and real Maine maple syrup. The price is $10 for Adults, and $5 for Children 10 and under.
Volunteers are always welcome. For more information about volunteering, contact Ginny at [email protected].
It was 68 years ago when this tradition became a reality. Summer visitors, especially, look forward to the breakfasts. It’s an occasion to see friends, both long-time residents and other summer folks. All are welcome.
Proceeds from the breakfast help with the upkeep of the Wilkins House, a longtime community gathering place in the heart of Waterford Flat.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
