OXFORD — The Oxford Rec Department is having a trip to Boothbay Harbor – Cabbage Island Clam Bake on August 9. The cost is $130 per person and includes transportation, boat trip, and lobster feed on the island. I am waiting to see if I will be getting the larger bus. If I do I will also offer transportation to Booth Bay to spend the day.
The other event is The Second Annual Community Day on August 20, with rain date August 21, This is held at Pismo Beach. It will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Free hot dog, burgers, chips, and drinks. There will be games for the kids. Concert by The Ultimate Country Band II. There will be a bouncy house, supplied by Aubuchon Hardware. We will also have space available for crafters and vendors, with a fee of $10. If non-profit fundraising, there is no fee. Also, if anyone wants to run a game booth for kids, we will supply the prizes. Volunteers are needed to continue this as an annual event. If anyone has ideas they would like to share, call 539-8094.
