BETHEL — The Mahoosuc Land Trust’s annual Monarch Festival will be held on Sunday, August 14 (rain date of Sunday, August 21) from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The free event will be held at Valentine Farm, 162 North Road. Activities include tagging a monarch on its way to Mexico and constructing a home for a woodland creature. Joe Wallace will talk about the bugs he raises and exhibits. There will be a children’s story time and vendors will sell their wares at arts and crafts tables.
Over 70 species of flowers provide habitat for native birds, bees and butterflies. Valentine Farm was a gift from Dick Valentine and was transferred to Mahoosuc Land Trust in April 2016.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
