WINTHROP — Shirley V. Skidgell, 81, a resident of Fish Hatchery Road in Monmouth, died Friday evening, June 17, at Winthrop Manor.

She was born July 28, 1929, in Lewiston, the daughter of Frank Clifton and Tessie Ridlon Maxwell. She was educated in the Wales schools. On April 26, 1947, in Minot, she married Clyde H. Skidgell of Monmouth; he passed away in 1999.

She had been employed at Globe Albany in North Monmouth for 28 years as a stitcher. She enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, word search puzzles, working in her flower gardens and caring for her grandchildren. She was a lifelong member of the South Monmouth Baptist Church.

She is survived by four sons, Raymond and his wife, Darlene, of Litchfield, Dennis of Oregon, Gary of Monmouth, and Bruce and his wife, Patty, of Monmouth; a daughter, Cheryl Yasakawa and her husband, Kenji, of San Jose, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Pearl Hall of Wales, Pauline Poussard of Wales, and Norma Linton and her husband, Dale, of Litchfield; and a brother, Norman Maxwell and his wife, Shirley, of Wales.

She was predeceased by her husband, Clyde, in 1999; her daughter, Arlene Howes, in 2001; a brother, Wesley Maxwell; and two sisters, Lillian Burgess and Ruth Burgess.
