
TURNER — One person died Friday morning when two vehicles collided on Route 4 near the intersection of Route 219, according to the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators said one driver died at the scene. The names of those involved were not being released until immediate family members were notified. They did not say how many people were involved or the extent of injuries.
The collision occurred about 11:30 a.m. near Scott’s Recreation at 2239 Auburn Road, which is Route 4.
A stretch between Route 219 and Tidswell Road was closed for hours as Lewiston police reconstructed the crash. The road was reopened by 4 p.m.
Emergency crews were assisted by paramedics from Buckfield Rescue. Sheriff’s deputies were also assisted by the Maine State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit.
