AUBURN — NAPA Auto Parts extended its win streak to five games with two decisive wins in the Auburn Rec Players lower division this week, by a combined score of 37-3.
In the first go-round, NAPA rolled back Walmart, 17-1, at Tribou Field.NAPA started slowly with six outs in its first eight at-bats, but the parts patrol picked up the pace with a nine-run third inning. After going scoreless in the fourth, NAPA added five runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth to seal the deal.
Andy Ouellette went 4-for-4 with four runs scored, two doubles, and an inside-the-park home run to go along with three RBIs. Dave Langlois, Demetrius Starks, Kasey Clark and Terry Goguen all helped the cause by going 3-for-4. Langlois had a run scored with a triple and 2 RBIs. Clark crossed the plate three times with a double and 2 RBIs. Starks and Goguen each had two runs scored, with Goguen adding three RBIs to the mix.
NAPA knocked out the Martin Driving Academy Hitmen, 20-2, in round two at Lakeview Field. NAPA scored eight runs in the second inning, four in the third and eight more in the fourth to invoke the mercy rule.
Kevin Pontbriand and Anthony Clark each went 4-for-4 with two runs scored. Pontbriand also had a triple with 3 RBIs, while Clark had a double, a triple and 2 RBIs.
Kasey Clark, Andy Ouellette and Demetrius Starks all enjoyed perfect days at the plate. Clark went 2-for-2 with two runs scored, a walk and two doubles, while Ouellette went 3-for-3 with two runs scored, two doubles and two RBIs. Starks went 2-for-2 with two runs scored, two RBIs and a sacrifice fly.
Up and down the batting order, NAPA players had great nights at the plate, including home runs by Peter Boyd and Tom Day. Dave Langlois also helped out with a 3-for-4 performance, including a run scored, two doubles and three RBIs.
NAPA anticipates a battle of unbeaten teams Wednesday at 6:15 p.m. at Lakeview Field against the Brew Crew, also 5-0.
