SOUTH PARIS — Pauline “Polly” May (Parker) Jeffrey, 90, of Otisfield, died peacefully on Saturday, June 18, at Market Square Health Care Center.
She was born in Portland, April 28, 1921, the daughter of George R. Parker and Lena Pearl (Havener) Parker. She enjoyed spending her childhood with her brothers and sister on Peaks Island. She graduated from Portland High School in 1939.
Polly met Robert Jeffrey, who would become her husband of 69 years in a Portland coffee shop. They were married on Aug. 9, 1941, at St. Augustine‘s in South Boston. After staying home to raise her family, she was employed by Jordan Marsh and retired as a member of the Teamsters Union. Most of their married life they lived on the South Shore of Boston, before retiring to their home on Thompson Lake in Otisfield. She loved reading, boating and traveling.
She is survived by her three daughters, Gail Kiddy and husband, George, of Salem, N.H., Wendy Jeffrey-O’Flavin of North Weymouth, Mass., and Jane Conley and husband, Mark, of Merrimack, N.H.; five grandchildren, Teresa Grieco, Tracey Flavin, Christopher Flavin, Sean Conley and Patrick Conley; four great-grandsons, Brendan, Cameron, Shane and Liam; her siblings, Frederick Eugene Parker and wife, Joanne, of Plantsville, Conn., David Parker and wife, Vivian, of Portland and Patricia (Parker) Ireland and husband, Paul, of Scarborough; and many nieces and nephews.
Polly was predeceased by her husband, Robert “Bob” Jeffrey; and brothers, Charlie, Eddie and Skip.
The family extends their sincere thanks to the staff of Market Square Health Care Center for the care, companionship and comfort they gave to Polly during her stay there.
