LIVERMORE FALLS — At the September 4 First Baptist Church of Livermore Falls service. the congregation was welcomed to the new month and the first Sunday in September, 2022! At the First Baptist Church in Livermore Falls, we are looking forward to the return of our organist, Maggie Houlihan, who has been absent because of illness. Kay King Watson will welcome the congregation, and we will sing two Praise Songs: “Hidden Treasure” and “Times of Refreshing”.

Pastor Russ Thayer will read the Call to Worship from the Book of Isaiah 65: 17-19. He will lead us in Prayer Time as we pray for friends and loved ones, then we will recite the Lord’s Prayer. He will lead us in our first hymn, which is “Thy Word”.

Margaret Emery will introduce the new Worship Team, who are singers, but perform many other duties for the Worship Service and participate in many other functions of the church organization. They will joyfully sing “O Happy Day” and invite the congregation to sing with them, accompanied by Margaret.

Pastor Thayer will read from Matthew 6: 18 – 24. The title of the Sermon will be, “Sermon On the Mount – “Treasures” This writer cannot tell the readers what the Pastor will say about “treasure”. However, in the Book of Matthew, the scriptures tell us to store up our treasures in Heaven, “for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Do not store treasures of earth, material things, because others will want them and might steal them from you. “No one can serve two masters(Heaven and earthly materials); “You cannot serve both God and Money”.

Pastor Russ led the last Hymn, “Here, o My Lord, I See Thee Face To Face:. He then led us in Communion, and after the Benediction, the congregation formed a circle and sang, “Blest Be the Tie That Binds”.
