Auburn Public Library plans to host Cooking Healthy on a Budget with Becca Schoen, a SNAP-Ed nutrition educator from Healthy Androscoggin, at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, Sept, 14 and 15.
The event will be held in the Androscoggin Community Room at the 49 Spring St. library.
Those who want to learn how to prepare delicious, healthy foods and stay within a budget can join this free, two-class series to gain tools, information and recipes to help sharpen skills, according to a news release from the library.
These classes cover topics to help shop, cook and eat healthier foods while staying within a food budget. All participants receive a colorful cookbook with 24 healthy, low-cost recipes and nutrition tips. Each session will include either a food demo, prep, or take-home option.
Schoen’s passion is growing food — watching the amazing process of seed to plant — and then transforming it into delicious dishes in the kitchen.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
