The Lewiston Public Library is set to host a Tarot 101 workshop from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17, in the Jeanne Couture Room at 200 Lisbon St.
The workshop will feature Kate Sheridan, a.k.a The Laundress. It is free and open to both teens and adults, and is for anyone who wants to learn more about tarot cards, using the classic Smith-Rider-Waite deck as a guide.
Basic tarot theory will be covered to give a bird’s eye view of all 78 cards and how they work together. The goal is to demystify tarot in order to empower the use the cards for self-reflection and personal growth. Throughout the evening participants will be invited to consider card images using both the information from the workshop and their own intuition. At the end of the evening, participants will be shown how to conduct a reading.
A limited number of tarot decks will be available for use at the event; people should bring own deck if available, along with a notebook and pen.
No reservations are required.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
