PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Portland’s police chief, a former state attorney general and others are speaking out against domestic violence, following a pattern of homicides in Maine over the past few weeks.

The group Boys to Men held a news conference in Portland on Thursday to draw attention to sexual and domestic violence and discuss what can be done to combat them.

They said domestic-related homicides in Dexter and Winslow in the last three weeks leave them outraged, and they want to channel that anger into action.

Speakers at Thursday’s news conference included Portland Police Chief James Craig, Portland Schools Superintendent Jim Morse, former Attorney General Steve Rowe and Drew Wing, executive director of the social change organization Boys to Men.
