GRAY — Gray-New Gloucester kept its season going with a 3-0 sweep of No. 10 Wells in a Class B girls volleyball preliminary round match Thursday night.

The No. 7 Patriots (9-6) have now won six matches in a row, including Thursday’s playoff match that featured set scores of 25-15, 25-13 and 25-21. Gray-New Gloucester now advances to the state quarterfinals, where the Patriots will face No. 2 Gardiner (14-0).

The Warriors end their season with a 6-9 record.

HIGH SCHOOL FIELD HOCKEY
TELSTAR 1, TRAIP 0, OT: The ninth-seeded Rebels scored with 3:41 left in overtime to send Telstar (1-14) past the No. 8 Rangers (0-9) in a Class C South play-in game in Gardiner. Telstar advances to face No. 1 Winthrop in the regional quarterfinals.

MVC CHAMPIONSHIP: Haley Tuplin scored the game-winning goal with two minutes left in the fourth quarter to lift Lisbon to a 2-1 win over Dirigo in the Mountain Valley Conference championship game played on the Lewiston High School turf.

MacKenzie Theriault opened the scoring for the Greyhounds with two minutes left in the first half. Kara Woods tied the game for the Cougars with 11 minutes left in the fourth quarter.

COLLEGE FIELD HOCKEY
NEC 5, UMF 0: Drea Chin scored two goals to pace the Pilgrims past the Beavers in Farmington.

Lilli McCormack, Annalisa Crooks and Tatum Golis also scored for New England College (9-5, 2-2 New England Collegiate Conference), with Mikayla Vincent picking up three assists and Chin and Kate Bourgeois each notching one.

Katelyn Rouleau made nine saves for University of Maine at Farmington (1-10, 0-4 NECC), while Jackie Mountford and Makenzie Anderson split time in the NEC net without having to make any saves.
