WEST PARIS — Harland Everard Harlow, 79, of West Paris, passed away peacefully Monday, June 13, after a courageous battle with brain cancer, with his wife by his side, at Ledgeview Living Center, West Paris.

He was born in Bryant Pond, March 3, 1932, the son of Everard and Myra Wilson Harlow. He attended Woodstock school and worked for the Deere Tractor in Rumford, O.K. Clifford Co. in South Paris and Don Mason’s Repair Shop in West Paris for many years as a mechanic.

He enjoyed working in the woods for himself and he liked to cut up wood for people in the neighborhood and gave it to them at no charge. He enjoyed attending antique car shows with his brothers and taking bus tours and traveling with his wife, Louella. He and his wife lived in Colorado for a few years and then moved back to Maine. He was a member of the Oxford Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

Mr. Harlow is survived by his wife, Louella of West Paris; a daughter, Donna and her husband, Randy LaRose, of New Gloucester; a son, Gary Harlow of Norway; a granddaughter, Carla and her husband, Kristoffer Evans, of Greenwood; a great-granddaughter, Emma Evans; a grandson, Lee Martin of West Paris; two brothers, Robert Harlow and his wife, Alberta, of Freeport and Myron (Bud) Harlow of Bryant Pond; three sisters, Eva Bowers of Greenwood, Marilyn and her husband, Wyman Huston, of Bryant Pond and Rose Marie and her husband, Alban Hersey, of South Paris; and many close friends.

He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Maynard Harlow; sister-in-law, Evis (Pip) Harlow; and brother-in-law, Henry Bowers.
