FARMINGTON — A local man was charged with assaulting an officer Saturday after a door was slammed on the officer’s foot and leg.
Police responded at about 11 p.m. Saturday to a report of a driver in a black 1981 Pontiac Firebird squealing tires near Sunny Hill Apartments on the Fairbanks Road.
The vehicle is registered to Verne Pressey, 46, of Farmington.
While Farmington Sgt. Michael Adcock attempted to talk with Pressey at his home off Fairbanks Road, he was belligerent and verbally violent, Rachel Heseltine, Farmington police secretary read from Adcock’s report.
Adcock attempted to continue the conversation by blocking the door from closing with his foot and leg when Pressey decided to slam the door, she said. Adcock was not injured.
Pressey was also given a summons for excessive acceleration and noise.
Wilton Police Department received two separate calls earlier on Saturday about the Firebird squealing tires in Wilton. The callers were able to supply the plate number and a description of the vehicle, she said.
Pressey bailed from Franklin County Detention Center Sunday on $3,000 unsecured and has a court appearance scheduled for Aug. 19.
