LEWISTON — Shirley H. Huntress of Poland passed away on Wednesday, July 13, at Central Maine Medical Center.

She was born on Jan. 9, 1934, the daughter of Rudolph (Bud) Sanders and Anna Johnson Sanders at home in Mayfield, New Brunswick, Canada. She was educated in Canada and worked as a secretary at various places during her working years.

She married Fred A. Huntress Jr. of Auburn on Dec. 10, 1955, at St. Stephen, New Brunswick. She was a member of the Minot United Methodist Church and a member of the women’s group, Susanna Wesley Circle. She was clerk-treasurer of Pine Grove Cemetery Corp. in Poland for many years.

She is survived by her husband, Fred; her daughter, Dr. Laurie Anne Huntress and husband, Joshua Hounsell; her special granddaughter, Alexandra; brothers, Roland and Floyd and their families; and sisters, Carole and Lorraine and their families.

She was predeceased by her parents; and two young children, Brian and Marlene Huntress.
