Noon concert

LEWISTON — The fun and varied music stylings of Downeast Brass take center stage at L/A Arts’ Sounds of Summer concert series at noon Thursday, July 21. The free performance will be held at Fountain Park, Mill Street, (the courtyard surrounded by Bates Mill, and next to DaVinci’s Eatery, off Chestnut Street).

Broadway hits

POLAND — Larry Gowell will perform for the Poland Spring Preservation Society at 7 p.m. Monday, July 25. He will be singing the best Broadway hits of the last 60 years along with some pop and inspirational music. The price is $7.50 at the door plus refreshments and fellowship after the concert.

LEWISTON — Oxford Networks has announced that Dawna Hannan, director of customer satisfaction, regulatory affairs and human resources, has been appointed to the United Way of Androscoggin County Board of Directors.

Hannan recently celebrated her 30th year of employment with the company and is responsible for regulatory and legislative affairs, human resources and customer satisfaction. She lives in Greene with her husband Mark, step-daughter Nichole and father-in-law Westford. She is a long time supporter of the United Way.

Sexual intimacy

LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing at Central Maine Medical Center is offering a free relationship workshop for prostate cancer patients, survivors and caregivers. “Strengthening Relationships and Maintaining Sexual Intimacy Following Diagnosis and Treatment of Prostate Cancer” will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, at CMMC, 12 High St., Conference Room H.

Prostate cancer survivors Michael Todd and Ole Jaeger join caring partner Sandy Jaeger to share stories and lead a discussion on how diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer can bring couples closer together in sharing a journey of love, affection and sexual intimacy.

Following the presentation, there will be an opportunity for questions and sharing. Light refreshments will be served.

Memory books

LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing at Central Maine Medical Center is offering a free memory book workshop for kids ages 10 and over. The creative, hands-on workshop will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, at CMMC, 12 High St., Conference Room I.

Memories, reading and sharing stories are a powerful way to stay connected to the people we love. Whether close or far, the memories we carry with us can offer a connection to those we hold dear although they may be out of reach. A memory book provides a unique way to preserve those memories.
