100 Years Ago: 1923

John Allen, 25, of Oxford was rushed to Ste Marie’s hospital last evening via an electric car. His immediate operation made an imperative and the A. and K. Railway was pressed into service to get the man to Lewiston. He was placed on an in-bound interurban car and an in-bound interurban car at Mechanic Falls on a stretcher.

50 Year Ago: 1973

Fish chowder supper Saturday, Jan. 10, starting at 5 p.m. at Henderson Memorial Baptist Church on Academy Street. Also on the menu is cole slaw and gingerbread and topping for $4.50. Sponsored by Baptist Youth Fellowship to raise funds for upcoming mission trip to the Dominican Republic.

25 Years Ago: 1998

DoRosey’s Orchestra has been engaged to furnish music for the Elk’ Ladies, night Jan 15, and for the Canadian Carnival, City Hall, Jan.18 and 19th.
