VFW meeting

LEWISTON — The Longley-Dionne VFW Post 9150 will hold its monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, at the Multi-Purpose Center.

All officers and members are encouraged to attend. Any eligible veterans wishing to join the VFW are invited to attend. They must have a copy of DD form 214.

Lobster salad

AUBURN — Pine Cone Chapter 26, Order of the Eastern Star,will hold its 16th annual lobster salad luncheon for the life members at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, July 24, at the Masonic Hall, 1021 Turner St. Pine Cone members are invited to attend. Call Stephen Broas at 784-5586 by Thursday, July 21.

‘The Tempest’

AUBURN — The Poland Players will perform a shortened version of William Shakespeare’s “The Tempest” at 5 p.m. Friday, July 22, at the Auburn Public Library. The show is free and all are welcome.

Ham, bean supper

HEBRON — The Hebron Historical Society will hold a ham and baked beans supper from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 24, at the West Minot Grange hall.

$8 adults, $4 under 12, complete with beverage and dessert. Proceeds will help pay for the society’s new home.

Lakeside Chapter

WALES — Lakeside Chapter #60 will have a special meeting for initiation at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 26. All members of the Order are invited.

Pine Cone Chapter had the most guests at their last meeting, and was entitled to take “Star,” the traveling emblem, to their chapter. They are recessed in July and August, but are so enthusiastic about “Star” traveling as much as possible in her year in this district that they sent “Star” to Gold Sheaf Chapter in New Gloucester.

A rehearsal will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, July 24, for officers. Ladies will wear white gowns, gentlemen dark suits or tuxes. Officers are reminded to bring finger food for the light refreshments to be served after the meeting.
